John Mayer fans were given a surprise when an intimate concert with the artist turned out to be a prank for hidden camera comedy show Impractical Jokers.

In an exclusive clip shared with Consequence, Mayer’s fans can be seen enjoying an acoustic performance of his hit single Your Body Is A Wonderland when show host James “Murr” Murray arrives disguised as a producer. Cutting off Mayer mid-performance telling him the producers wanted “a little bit more” and attempting to move people awkwardly out of the first row, Murr successfully antagonises the fans as he is mercilessly booed offstage.

Mayer gets in on the act by telling the host “How about we don’t interrupt ever again!” before kicking him out of the venue.

In other recent Mayer news, the guitarist is set to kick off his first-ever solo acoustic tour later this month on Saturday 11 March 2023 in Newark, New Jersey. The tour, which is being described as “20 years in the making”, will feature solo performances by Mayer and his acoustic guitar, along with special performances on piano and electric guitar.

Singer-songwriters Lizzy McAlpine, Alec Benjamin, and a special guest to be announced at a later time are set open the shows.
