John Mayer has revealed that his next album is ready for release, teasing that he’ll be dropping a clip of its lead single soon.

Mayer made the announcement yesterday (21 March) on his recently launched TikTok channel. “My album is recorded, mixed and mastered,” he wrote to followers. “I’ve just been chilling and sharing it with friends for the past couple of months.”

In his video, the 43-year-old musician also repeatedly uttered the phrase, “I think I’m gonna drop the single” multiple times. At press time, the clip has not been released.

The new studio album will be Mayer’s first in close to four years, following 2017’s The Search For Everything. Over the last couple of years, he has released a number of singles, including the platinum-selling New Light (2018) and I Guess I Just Feel Like and Carry Me Away (2019), while playing in Dead & Company with Bob Weir.

In other Mayer-related news, an SE edition of the PRS Silver Sky has allegedly been leaked. On 5 March, BlackSmith Strings shared on Facebook an unconfirmed photo of a product spec sheet labelled “PRS Silver Sky” which appeared to come from the same factory as the other SE models: PT Cort in Indonesia.
