It’s finally here.
John Mayer has released his latest single Last Train Home in full, after posting a number of short snippets of the track on TikTok. The track has arrived alongside a music video, which you can see below.

The album Last Train Home is taken from, Sob Rock, is set to be released on 16 July. It follows months of Mayer teasing the album, revealing to fans in a TikTok that it had been “recorded, mixed and mastered. I’ve just been chilling and sharing it with friends for the past couple of months.”
The song’s video is as 1980s as its music, complete with old-school cameras and CRT televisions, retro film effects and a new hot-pink finish for his signature PRS Silver Sky.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Mayer explained where the 1980s inspiration came from: “I asked myself, ‘What music makes me feel like everything’s going to be OK?’ ” he said. “And it’s the music I listened to growing up in the ‘80s. There’s a security-blanket aspect about that sound that reminds me of a safer time.”
