Guitarist John Mayer was one of the many guests to appear on Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes’ NPR Tiny Desk From Home.

Misch and Dayes performed two tracks from their new collaborative record What Kind Of Music.

The lockdown edition of the Tiny Desk concert also featured guest appearances from Jordan Rakei, Rocco Palladino and more. Take a look below.

Track one, Nightrider, sees John Mayer replacing Freddie Gibbs‘ verse found on the studio version with an outro guitar solo. Jordan Rakei also hops on the tune to provide backing vocals, while Tom Driessler plays bass.

The second song, Tidal Wave features R&B singer-songwriter Joel Culpepper on vocals and Rocco Palladino – the son of bass session legend player Pino Palladino – on bass guitar. Misch and Dayes stay on vocals/guitar and drums respectively.

For the past few months, NPR’s Tiny Desk series has been sharing performances from artists’ homes in order to combat the spread of COVID-19 and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Recently, Soccer Mommy also appeared at an at-home version as well.
