Kurt Vile has released a version of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ 1986 song Stranger Than Kindness. Take a listen below.

The single was released as part of the ‘Songs For Australia’ benefit album, a series of covers compiled by Julia Stone. Proceeds from the record are going towards disaster relief charities in Australia.

The record also features The National’s take on INXS’ Never Tear Us Apart, Damien Rice’s version of SIA’s Chandelier and Dermot Kennedy’s cover of Matt Corby’s Resolution.

When announcing the album, Julia Stone spoke of how touched she was to get contributions from the artists on the record: “I received the most heartwarming replies from the biggest, busiest artists in the world. Most of these artists have toured here, have family here, friends here, have lived here or spent time here. Everyone has such great memories of this country and to see it in flames was breaking everyone’s hearts.”
