Lindsey Buckingham has announced a string of US tour dates, on top of his appearance at Tennessee’s Beale Street Music Festival in May.

The former Fleetwood Mac guitarist kicks off the trek at Smith Center in Las Vegas on 25 April. The tour features stops in Atlanta, Memphis and St. Louis before ending on 13 May in Magnolia Performing Arts Center in El Cajon, California.

The tour is Buckingham’s official return to stage since he suffered a heart attack in February 2019. According to his wife, Kristen Buckingham, the guitarist suffered some “vocal cord damage” following the open-heart procedure. “While it is unclear if the damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not”, she wrote in a statement at the time.

Months later, Buckingham made a special appearance at his daughter’s graduation ceremony. He performed an acoustic rendition of Landslide, backed by the student choir led by his daughter Leelee.

Buckingham was let go from Fleetwood Mac back in 2018, with conflicting reasons surrounding the matter. Frontwoman Stevie Nicks blamed the guitarist’s divided attention between his solo project and the band, whereas Buckingham claimed that Nicks had issued an ultimatum, resulting in his departure from the band. He was replaced by Crowded House frontman Neil Finn and Mike Campbell, guitarist of the late Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers.

The possibility of Buckingham’s return to Fleetwood Mac was recently quashed by drummer Mick Fleetwood. “We’re very, very committed to [Finn] and [Campbell], and [the idea of a potential reunion] passed away a time ago, when Lindsey left. And it’s not a point of conversation, so I have to say no,” he said in a January interview with Rolling Stone.
