Green Day have teased what sounds to be a snippet of new material onto social media – take a listen to it below.

The band shared the short clip to their Instagram page on Saturday (15 May). Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong can be heard saying, “Nice little intro here, check it out,” before hitting the playback on a short instrumental section.

Green Day’s last release was the single Here Comes The Shock, which landed in February 2021. It follows the band’s last studio album, Father Of All Motherfuckers from 2020.

Armstrong previously touched on future Green Day releases in an interview with NME last November. “Whether we do a full-length album or an EP or just a song, we have a lot of different options. It’s a matter of whenever the right moment happens,” he said. “That’s the beauty of the way you can put music out these days.”

This year, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer will be embarking on the Hella Mega Tour. If all goes according to plan, the band will kick off the North American leg of the tour 14 July at the T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington. See more dates here.
