Isolated studio outtakes from Jimi Hendrix recording Voodoo Child (Slight Return) have been posted online to YouTube.
The recordings date back to 3 May 1968, and showcase the legend’s raw guitar work and unprocessed vocals alongside his band at the time, the Experience.

Voodoo Child (Slight Return) was the final track on the Electric Ladyland album, which was released in October 1968. The song went on to become one of his most known tracks and his only UK number one single.
The album was recorded using his iconic Fender Stratocaster, which is what can be heard wah-ing away on the outtakes above.
It was also the last record of his Experience band, and the album is full of collaborations with other artists alongside the trio, from the likes of, Dave Mason, Chris Wood, Steve Winwood from Traffic, drummer Buddy Miles, bassman Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane) and Al Kooper.
The audio joins a collection of other golden archived gems – in recent months, unearthed footage from an array of iconic bands and artists has resurfaced online including band rehearsal videos from System Of A Down, and footage of Eddie Van Halen with an early rendition of the Frankenstrat.
