Wolfgang Van Halen’s solo band, Mammoth WVH, will be making its late-night television debut later this month on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

The appearance – scheduled for 11 February – was announced by Wolfgang himself in a tweet yesterday (31 January). It hinted at the first-ever live performance of the band’s first single, Distance.

Distance, which Wolfgang dedicated to late father Eddie Van Halen, was released last November, just a month after the guitar icon’s passing.

In a statement, Wolfgang explained, “While this song is incredibly personal, I think anyone can relate to the idea of having a profound loss in their own life.”

The 29-year-old multi-instrumentalist performed all the instruments and sang on the single. As yet, no information on who will be joining Wolfgang onstage with Mammoth WVH has been revealed.

Back in November, Wolfgang also stated that he had no intention of revisiting Van Halen songs with Mammoth WVH in a live capacity – at least without transforming the tunes drastically first.

Speaking to SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, he said: “I wouldn’t wanna just sit there and play Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love. I’d wanna do a cool acoustic cover of Little Guitars or some shit – something different. I refuse to tread the same ground as my dad. I need to forge my own path.”
