Marty Friedman wants to play more shows with Megadeth: “The door’s open… I’m all up for it”
The guitarist recently joined the band onstage for the first time in over twenty years.

Marty Friedman has discussed his onstage reunion with Megadeth, and confirmed that is open to more collaborations in the future.
The comments arose in a new interview with the guitarist, in which he reflected upon his guest appearance at the band’s live show on Monday (27 February).
This event marked the thrashers’ first time performing at the Budokan Arena in Tokyo, Japan, and Friedman’s first reunion with the band in twenty-three years.
“It was just like a perfect exclamation point on everything that we had done together up until this point,” he told Consequence yesterday (28 February). “You couldn’t have written a better way for the whole thing to play out. It was just perfect timing, just a very natural and organic way to do it.”
The guitarist progressed to discuss how – despite the tumultuous circumstances in which he departed the band in 2000 – his relationship with Dave Mustaine has been thriving in recent years. This, he explains, has made him increasingly willing to reunite with the band at their upcoming shows.
“Maybe at the time when I left the band, there might have been some weird feelings between us… But that’s such a long time ago. Since then, there’s really been nothing but friendly, normal contact,” he said.
“The door’s open [for more collaborations]. I think the door has always been open. It’s really just a matter of doing something that has meaning to it. Meaning for them and meaning for me.”
He continued:
“Budokan [was] a no-brainer. But if something were to come up… then I’m all for it. As far as I’m concerned, their band is just kicking so much ass right now, I can’t imagine them needing me for anything. [But] my door’s open and we’re on great terms. I love all the guys in the band.”
