Mateus Asato has collaborated with LA-based musician Annalé on her latest track, Goodbye. The track marks the first major music activity from Asato since he announced a break from music and Instagram last month.

The song is a remake of Annalé’s first Korean language single of the same name. Goodbye also enlists talents from around the world, including Filipino actor-singer Inigo Pascual and Malaysian music production troupe MFMF.

Take a listen to Goodbye below:

Asato described Goodbye as “refreshment to the soul”. “The happiness found through the melodic path makes a perfect marriage with the vocal harmonies,” he said in a statement. “Everything fits so well! Being part of this song is a big privilege to me – especially for having the opportunity of collaborating with such talented artists. I am beyond proud of this final result.”

Annalé added that she was grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with an international group of talents. “I love the diversity of the artists involved in this project,” she said. “Korean-American, Filipino, Brazilian and Malaysian all in one song!”

Back in February, Asato revealed he was taking a break from music, citing a loss of inspiration brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and feeling “overwhelmed” by social media as the main reasons.

The 27-year-old virtuoso – who shot to fame by sharing his guitar playing videos online – shut down his Instagram account on 7 February and has not reactivated it since. Asato’s Instagram account had amassed over a million followers at the time of its deactivation.
