Metallica’s latest #MetallicaMondays is here – take a look above. The show is from the band’s world tour in support of their 2016 record Hardwired… To Self Destruct, filmed at their June 2019 set at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.

As Metallica noted on social media, the weather was “pouring rain” throughout most of the set, which, although nothing new for the residents of Manchester, did add an extra touch of drama to cuts like Master of Puppets.

The band launched #MetallicaMondays all the way back in March, having uploaded a full pro-shot performance each week since. Announcing the series, the band wrote: “While we’re all doing our part and staying home, we find ourselves missing live music, so how about we dive back into a few of our favourite shows at a socially responsible distance?” Metallica said in a statement announcing the series. “Not to sound too cheesy, but now more than ever, we’re in this together, and staying connected is how we’ll get through it. With that in mind, we’re bringing a series of Live Metallica shows right to your couch!”

While live performances are of course off the table for the time being (the band’s 2020 festival and touring plans were all nixed by the ongoing pandemic), they did step into their respective home studios for a stripped-back performance of Blackened.
