Mick Fleetwood has released a revisited edition of These Strange Times, which first appeared on Fleetwood Mac’s Time from 1995.

The single was released under Fleetwood’s Da Da Ism project, and was released alongside an accompanying eight-minute music video. The video explored several contemporary issues – which include the COVID-19 pandemic, racial injustice and environmental pollution. Take a look at it below:

In a statement, Fleetwood hoped that his song would convey that “life is about choice”.

“The project is about the energy of choice, of deciding if you want to be a part of the dark or the light when push comes to shove, which seems very apropos at this moment in history,” he said.

“It’s about how you read things, which is very important today. Everyone needs to be carefully paying attention to the information coming our way. There is subtext to everything and we need to be aware of that.”

The reimagined These Strange Times also featured a section from Albatross, the instrumental guitar track led by guitarist Peter Green, who died earlier this year.

“Peter, I will miss you, but rest easy, your music lives on,” Fleetwood said in his tribute message to Green, shared to Rolling Stone. “I thank you for asking me to be your drummer all those years ago. We did good, and trailblazed one hell of a musical road for so many to enjoy. Godspeed to you, my dearest friend.”
