Throwback rock duo The Moon City Masters have released their latest single, Takin’ It Back.

The band, who have been making music together since their childhood, said of the new track: “The one thing we have to say about our next tune, Takin’ It Back … is: ‘Power to the people!’

Takin’ It Back is a big riffing rock anthem to lift you up and inspire you to take back what has been stolen from you. The song started with a jam, but then that jam became a plan to take it to the man. The nascent funky riffs became a tune that The Moon City Masters took to Grammy-nominated producer, Justin Craig. Together we turned it into an all-out grooving rock tune.”

The band’s signature sound, based on interlocked guitar and bass playing tight, funky riffs and ’70s-inspired harmonies, is on full display in Takin’ It Back, which you can listen to below.

The Moon City Masters’ latest single Takin’ It Back, as well as Over Now and Bring it On Home To Me from 2020, follow the group’s 2019 debut EP The Adventures Of The Moon City Masters.

Last year, the band released the psychedelic music video for Over Now, which you can check out below:
