Myles Kennedy says there are “always new ideas starting to bloom” with Slash and the Conspirators
New projects might be delayed due to the pandemic, however.

Myles Kennedy has hinted that new material from his collaboration with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash could be on the way – but has tempered expectations as to when it will arrive due to the current pandemic.
Speaking to Consequence Of Sound, Kennedy was asked what was new with the collaboration. He said that they have been “working on new material off and on for years, really. I mean, since we did the last run, which was — geez, how long has it been now? I don’t even remember. Everything is just kind of running together!” He’s most likely referring to the most recent result of their collaboration – the 2018 record Living The Dream.
He continued: “There’s always new ideas starting to bloom. Due to the state of things, as far as getting that material out, we’re just going to have to wait and see. But, there are always ideas in the pipeline.”
As Kennedy notes, even the most productive of writing sessions can still meet a dead-end when it comes to album releases during a pandemic. Traditional live recording can be made difficult by Coronavirus-related studio closures, and earlier this year many albums were tentatively delayed due to the pandemic and subsequent disruption of the standard touring cycle.
Myles Kennedy has been working with the Guns N’ Roses guitarist for over a decade now, having co-written and sung on the final track of Slash’s solo debut. Kennedy then performed as lead vocalist for the subsequent tour, and has sung on all subsequent Slash solo releases. Alongside this, Kennedy is also the frontman and one of two guitarists for Alter Bridge, alongside Mark Tremonti.
We spoke to both Myles and Mark at the end of last year, following the release of the latest Alter Bridge record Walk The Sky. At the time, Kennedy said how, alongside the 2018 album with Slash, it was his latest acoustic album that influenced his work on Walk The Sky. “For me the biggest thing that affected this record was having the opportunity to write a solo record right before the last Slash record, which was acoustic,” he told us. “I was so ready to rock, I was so hungry to play the guitar and riff out. That kind of cleansed my sonic palette. Frankly, the last thing I wanted to do was bring the acoustic to this, I just wanted to rock.”
