Watch: Neil Young brings out the rarities for his first Fireside Session
In lieu of touring, Young is posting a series of streamed concerts from his home.

Neil Young has released the first of his home-produced Fireside Sessions, which had announced earlier this week.
The concert was filmed by Young’s wife Daryl Hannah. Writing about the 30-minute set on his website, the pair said, “Happy to have you hang with us for a little while. It’s pretty rough around the edges, as any down-home/low tech slow interwebs production could be. Hope you enjoy. Take care. Sending love and we’ll try to keep ’em coming.”

He posted a photo of the eponymous fireside, along with his two dogs, over on his website the Neil Young Archives. “Because we are all at home and not many are venturing out, we will try to do a stream from my fireplace with my lovely wife filming,” Young wrote about his plans. He also clarified that it would be a “down-home production, a few songs, a little time together.”
The set included deep cuts from Neil’s back-catalogue such as Sugar Mountain, Little Wing
Love/Art Blues, Tell Me Why, Razor Love and Vampire Blues. Many of these tracks hadn’t been performed solo before, and some not at all for many years. Vampire Blues, for instance, hadn’t been performed solo since 1974.
We don’t know when the next Fireside Session will be, but from Young’s initial announcement, and the one accompanying this first session, it’s clear he and Hannah want to continue making them.
Young’s not the only musician to start virtual performances in light of the ongoing pandemic, with Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard starting his own series of streamed performances and the Big Moon’s Jules Jackson offering up lessons from home.
