Four guitar tracks to rock out to this week
Including songs by Children of Bodom and Yngwie Malmsteen.
Here’s a list of the four best rock songs from the past week that you have to hear:
This Road by Children of Bodom
Next month, Finnish melodic death metallers Children of Bodom will deliver their new album, Hexed. The latest track, This Road, is almost five minutes of relentless riffs and furious unclean vocals by Alexi Laiho.
Sun’s Up Top’s Down by Yngwie Malmsteen
Yngwie Malmsteen has released Sun’s Up Top’s Down, off his upcoming album, Blue Lightning, due out 29 March. The song is a new direction for the Swedish guitarist, who plays bluesy riffs over a groovy drum beat.
Life Metal preview by Sunn O)))
If you’ve ever idly fantasised about what Sunn O))) would sound like engineered by Steve Albini, wonder no more. The drone band’s forthcoming records, Life Metal and Pyroclasts, were recorded and mixed entirely on tape by the Chicago producer. For a taste of the former, check out the video above.
Livin’ a Lie by Foxygen
Californian duo Foxygen has released Livin’ a Lie, which layers a myriad of instruments from synths to guitars and strings. The track is the first glimpse of Seeing Other People, their upcoming album due out 26 April.
