If you thought a trio of High Flying Birds EP releases signalled that a new Noel Gallagher album is on the way, forget about it.

Speaking to Jeff Slate for Guitar.com ahead of the release of Wandering Star from upcoming EP Blue Moon Rising, the legendary Mancunian songwriter revealed that he plans to “get away from it for a bit” in 2020.

Apart from the odd festival date next summer, I think I’m going to try to take 2020 off,” Noel told us.

“Now, that being said, my missus may have something to say about that. Plus, I’ve got a load of songs, they’ve just got to be knocked into shape… but actually, once the Christmas EP is out of the way, I’m going to take a step back.

“I just need to get away from it for a bit. So I don’t think I’ll start to make an album seriously till 2021.”

Stay tuned to Guitar.com for much more from Noel Gallagher, including plenty of gear talk, his newfound love for Strats and offsets, and news of a forthcoming signature guitar based on a much-loved instrument from his Oasis days.

Blue Moon Rising is available for preorder now.
