Legendary Britpop band Oasis are to celebrate the anniversary of Definitely Maybe on 29 August, and have chosen to release a limited edition picture disc and silver vinyl to honour the occasion.

Original content from the era will be made available throughout the month, while the picture disc is an online exclusive and the silver LP will be made available from retailers.

Released on August 29, 1994, Definitely Maybe was (at the time) the fastest selling debut album in UK chart history, immediately marking Oasis as a cultural phenomenon and helping to define the Britpop era.

The album eventually went seven times platinum in the UK and sold over five million copies worlwide, boasting the singles Supersonic, Shakermaker, Live Forever and Cigarettes And Alcohol. These songs became instant rock classics within weeks of their respective releases, while album opener Rock & Roll Star also maintains its status an anthem throughout the British Isles and a radio staple.

Definitely Maybe frequently features on ‘best of’ album lists from a plethora of publications and magazines and is widely regarded as one of the best debut albums of all time. Noel Gallagher’s wall of overdriven guitars on the record has often been imitated but rarely equalled, while aggressive mastering made Definitely Maybe louder than almost any other album of its era.
