Death metal stalwarts Obituary, following a recent tease on social media about a new album and “something really cool” to come, have announced a series of three live-streamed shows – two of which will see them perform classic albums, with the final set being made up of hits and rarities.

The performances will be streamed live from ESI Studio in Tampa, Florida. The two albums they’ll be performing are their 1989 debut Slowly We Rot and their 1990 second record Cause Of Death.

Writing about the shows, the band said: “The World Health Organization has announced an earth-shattering advisory….they’ve tried to develop a vaccine…they’re employing any treatment they can think of….but upon repeated examination and the indisputable death toll it has been confirmed… THERE IS NO CURE FOR METAL!!!!! And with that in mind, we aim to deliver you from the pain within… the pain withOUT this intangible substance your soul survives to crave… and present you with a trifecta of infectious disease that is sure to please your senses… socially distanced, WE WILL ROT TOGETHER!!!!!!”

The dates for the concert series and their respective sets are as follows:

  • Saturday 17 October: Slowly We Rot
  • Saturday 24 October: Cause Of Death
  • Saturday 7 November: “Rare classics and special tracks”
