An official Jeff Buckley biopic is in the works, co-produced by his mother

An official Jeff Buckley biopic, co-produced by the late musician’s mother, is currently in the works.
Reeve Carney – who appeared in Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark, Penny Dreadful and more – will star as Buckley in Everybody Here Wants You. The film has support from Buckley’s estate and will be able to feature his music.
“This will be the only official dramatisation of Jeff’s story which I can promise his fans will be true to him and to his legacy,” Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibert, said in a statement. “Thankfully, my determination to assemble all the right participants, no matter how long it took, is about to culminate in the best way possible.”
Everybody Here Wants You marks the directorial debut of Orian Williams, who previously produced Control, the biopic on Joy Division’s Ian Curtis.
“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to step into the director’s seat to tell Jeff’s story,” Williams said in a statement. “[Screenwriter Dionne Jones’] beautiful script brings together all the elements of Jeff’s life into one intimate and visual story.”
Filming is set to take place this fall, with cinematographer Roberto Schaefer (Finding Neverland, Quantum of Solace) attached to the project.
Jeff Buckley is best known for his platinum-selling record Grace – his only studio album –from 1994. He died just three years later at the age of 30, after drowning in Wolf River in Tennessee.
Everybody Here Wants You won’t be the first feature to tell Buckley’s story on the silver screen. Back in 2012, Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl) starred as the late musician in Greetings From Tim Buckley.
