Emily Eavis, an organiser of Glastonbury, has confirmed Paul McCartney will headline the iconic festival in 2020.

The news comes after the former Beatles man shared a cryptic clue on his Instagram account of composer Philip Glass, actor Emma Stone and Chuck Berry. All three surnames combine to read “Glass-Stone-Berry”, implying Glastonbury.

Eavis also wrote: “IT’S REAL!! So excited.. Having Paul McCartney coming back to headline the Pyramid next year is an absolute dream come true. There really was no one that we wanted more for the 50th anniversary.”

McCartney also confirmed the announcement by adding “Hey Glasto – excited to be part of your Anniversary celebrations. See ya next summer!”

The news has ended months of speculation regarding the headline slot being earmarked for Macca at Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary.
