Phoebe Bridgers has revealed a disturbing encounter with Marilyn Manson from when she visited the shock rocker’s house as a teenager.

In a tweet posted yesterday (4 February), Bridgers claimed that when she visited Manson’s home when she was a teen, he had referred to a room in his house as “the rape room”.

“I went to Marilyn Manson’s house when I was a teenager with some friends,” she wrote. “I was a big fan. He referred to a room in his house as the ‘r*pe room’, I thought it was just his horrible frat boy sense of humour. I stopped being a fan.”

In a separate tweet, Bridgers called out Manson’s peers who she claims were aware of his alleged actions.

“The label knew, management knew, the band knew. Distancing themselves now, pretending to be shocked and horrified is fucking pathetic,” she wrote.

Manson has been accused of grooming, abuse and manipulation by a number of women, including his ex-fiancé Evan Rachel Wood, who alleged that she was “brainwashed and manipulated into submission” and “horrifically abused” by Manson for many years.

He has issued a statement via social media, denying the allegations and calling them “horrible distortions of reality”.

Musicians Wes Borland and Trent Reznor have both also weighed in on Manson and the allegations levelled against him.

Borland, who played in Manson’s band in the late 2000s, said in an interview, “Every single thing that people have said about him is fucking true.” Further backing Wood’s claims, he stated, “I was there when he was with Evan Rachel Wood, I was at his house, it’s not fucking cool. That’s all I’m gonna say about it.”

Reznor addressed a passage from Manson’s 1998 autobiography The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, which resurfaced in the wake of the allegations. It recounts an incident where Manson and Reznor sexually assaulted a drunk woman while on tour together in the 1990s. Reznor branded this “a complete fabrication”.

“I have been vocal over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and cut ties with him nearly 25 years ago,” the Nine Inch Nails man said in a recent statement.
