Queen to celebrate five decades of music with “experiential” pop-up store in London

Queen are celebrating five decades of music by opening an “experiential” pop-up store that will use visual installations to take fans on a journey through the band’s history.

The store, called Queen The Greatest, will be located on London’s Carnaby Street from 28 September to January 2022. The two-floor space will be occupied by installations that tell the group’s story, such as a model 70s thrift shop (a nod to the Kensington Market stall Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor once had) as well as recreations of iconic performances venues that the band played from the 80s and beyond.

As for merchandise, fans can look forward to picking up vinyl records, apparel and other memorabilia in line with the store’s three monthly themes: Music in October, Art & Design in November and Magic in December.

In addition to exclusive fashion collaborations with Champion, Tokolo and more, the store will sell limited-edition music, including a special vinyl edition of Queen’s Greatest Hits. Along with this, special Christmas goods – including jumpers and wrapping paper – will be sold during the holiday season.

Proceeds from sales will go towards the Mercury Phoenix Trust, the charitable organisation founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and Queen band manager Jim Beach to raise funds and awareness for HIV/AIDS.

Speaking about the launch of the store, Queen said in a statement: “We are pleased to collaborate with Bravado on this project, which will be an exciting experience for everyone to come to London and enjoy. Carnaby Street was the perfect spot for the store to celebrate five decades.”
