Judas Priest Frontman Rob Halford has expressed excitement for Miley Cyrus’ upcoming Metallica covers album, saying that he “can’t wait” to hear it. Cyrus revealed she was making the album last month – adding to her heavy covers catalogue alongside her performance of Nothing Else Matters at Glastonbury 2019.

Speaking on the Life In The Stocks podcast, the metal musician said: “She is incredible. If you think about her life in show business from being a little kid, and how she’s kept her head on straight… she went a bit mad as a teenager, which you should do, that’s your right, she was expressing herself.”

“I can’t wait [to hear it], that’s going to be great. She has an extraordinary voice. Like [Lady] Gaga, the voice is everything. And she’s a metalhead, she’s always throwing the horns up. She’s someone I’d love to meet if the stars ever aligned.”

He then revealed noted a dew of his favourite female figures from across music, metal and non-metal, saying: “Women are so strong and powerful, especially in music”, adding: “Gaga, Madonna, Miley, my friend Maria [Brink] from In This Moment, and going back to Vinegar Joe’s Elkie Brooks, and Janis Joplin and Shirley Bassey… the power of women can’t be understated.”

Cyrus’ Metallica covers record is yet to be officially announced, but we do know it’ll follow her upcoming rock album Plastic Hearts, which arrives on 27 November this year.
