Robert Fripp and Toyah Willcox have shared their latest Sunday Lunch lockdown cover, a version of the Hawkwind classic Silver Machine.

The pair launched their Sunday Lunch video series last year, sharing renditions of songs by Nirvana, David Bowie, Metallica, Billy Idol, Judas Priest, Guns N’ Roses, ZZ Top, Alice Cooper and more through Willcox’s YouTube channel. Last week saw them perform a version of Rolling Stones’ Satisfaction alongside “mysterious stranger” Sidney Jake on guitar, with Willcox covered in body paint.

This week’s cover once again sees the return of Jake, as well as the body paint. Jake is also wearing a Motörhead T-shirt in a nod to the band’s frontman Lemmy, who sang on the original Hawkwind studio recording.

“More body paints and bubbles – The Trio on their Silver Machine!” Willcox captioned the new video. You can watch their song below:

Last month, Willcox explained what inspired the light-hearted project. “The one thing that kept coming back to us was that people were desperately lonely,” she said. “All these messages were coming back from people going, ‘Thank you – I was on the brink’… We realised that if we kept posting these with a continuity, we were saying we’re not in some big mansion somewhere, drinking champagne and laughing it off. We’re actually in this with you and we’re sharing this with you. We realized we could still be the performers that connect with our audience.”
