Roger Waters, performing along with members of Lucius, has shared a tribute cover of Hello In There for the late Americana icon, John Prine. Take a listen above.

The clip was taken from Our Voices Together a film centred around the legendary Newport Folk Festival, which streamed yesterday (3 August) in lieu of the in-person festival, which was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Hello In There originally appeared on Prine’s self-titled debut from 1971. This also isn’t the first time that Rogers’ has tackled the classic number, as he also performed the tune at the 2015 edition of the Newport Folk Festival.

John Prine died earlier this April due to symptoms related to COVID-19. His final song, I Remember Everything, was recorded in his living room and released posthumously. The song would become Prine’s highest-charting single, scoring number one on the Billboard charts at the time.

Numerous musicians, from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers to Bonnie Raitt have all shared tribute messages and covers in memoriam of Prine. The late singer was also honoured with a full livestream tribute event, Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine, earlier this year.
