Roger Waters has shared the first snippet from his upcoming rework of Pink Floyd‘s landmark album The Dark Side Of The Moon.

The new 52-second YouTube video, released shortly after the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side Of The Moon on 1 March, shows Waters listening to the first verse of his reworked version of Us and Them. In the video’s description, Waters included a statement that acknowledges the iconic status of the original album, writing, “[the rework is] not a replacement for the original which, obviously, is irreplaceable”.

He continued, “But it is a way for the seventy nine year old man to look back across the intervening fifty years into the eyes of the twenty nine year old and say, to quote a poem of mine about my Father, ‘We did our best, we kept his trust, our Dad would have been proud of us’. And also it is a way for me to honor a recording that Nick and Rick and Dave and I have every right to be very proud of.”

Waters has yet to announce a release date for his rework, having first revealed the project in early February. The new album will feature multi-instrumentalist Gus Seyffert and his girlfriend Azniv Korkejian, also known as Bedouine, as well as a Baptist minister on Hammond organ.
