Ted Nugent, who for the last year has openly dismissed COVID-19, has tested positive for the virus.

“I’ve never been so sick in all my life,” the Cat Scratch Fever star told fans in a Facebook Live video yesterday (20 April). The 72-year-old musician reported experiencing “flu symptoms for the last 10 days”, adding, “I thought I was dying”.

“Everybody told me I should not announce this,” he said. “I was tested positive today – I got the Chinese shit.”

“I got a stuffed up head, body aches – my god, what a pain in the ass. I literally can hardly crawl out of bed the last few days, but I did, I crawled… So I was officially tested positive for COVID-19 today.”

Nugent implied he will be abiding by self-isolation guidelines. “I’m homebound, i.e. quarantine,” he said.

In his video, Nugent also described a heated exchange he had with a doctor and cast doubt on the ethics of the vaccine.

Nugent has openly denied the existence of the coronavirus, even calling it a “scammy pandemic” during a Christmas livestream.

“It’s not a real pandemic and that’s not a real vaccine. I’m sorry, I ain’t taking no vaccine,” Nugent told fans back then. “You know what I’ll do if you come at me with a needle: ‘Hi, I’m from the government, this needle’s good for you.’ Fuck you.”
