The 1975 once again delay Notes On A Conditional Form

The album has seen several postponements and name changes.

The 1975 have delayed the release of their upcoming album, Notes on a Conditional Form.

The band posted the new release date of 22 May on twitter, along with the album artwork and 22-song-strong tracklist.

While the band didn’t release any statement along with the new release, it’s probably safe to assume that – like 99 percent delays to music events right now – the pushback is related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has cancelled and delayed countless tours. HAIM were among the bands to push back a release due to coronavirus.

Notes on a Conditional Form is the latest name for the 1975’s upcoming record, having also been called Music for Cars and Drive Like You Do. With the 2018 announcement of the band’s third album, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, frontman Matt Healy noted that Music for Cars would be a run of two albums consisting of Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and then a follow-up LP coming in May 2019.

However, this fourth album didn’t see a single until July 2019, after which the band pushed the release back to February 2020. After this, an April date and a new album cover was announced, followed by a return to the first cover. Now, with the (most likely final) release date in place, the cover has once again been changed.
