The Cure announced as Open’er Festival headliners
The band were keen to stress the appearance is an extension of their 2019 tour, not the start of “something new.”

The Cure are to headline Poland’s Open’er Festival this summer. It will be the band’s only European festival appearance of 2020.
The festival takes place in Gdynia, Poland between 1 and 4 June 2020. The Cure will headline on the last day of the festival, and join other headliners Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Twenty One Pilots and Taylor Swift.
The Cure said of the performance: “This is a promised/outstanding date we were unable to play on our 2019 travels and will be our only Euro festival of 2020. We look forward to seeing you there.”

The band were quick to clarify that the appearance is “a very belated full stop to our 2019 ‘festival tour’, not the start of ‘something new’.
“So our show will be based on our 2019 ‘festival set’… maybe with one or two surprises.”
Recently, frontman Robert Smith spoke of the band’s upcoming album, saying that it will “definitely” arrive in 2020. Smith confirmed the news at the NME Awards 2020, where the band walked away with the Best Festival Headliner award. In an interview after the show, he said the first of three upcoming records is almost ready. “The first one will definitely be out soon, we’re wrapping it up now and it’s going to be mixed. But until it’s completed, no one will believe me,” he said. “I look forward to it coming out more than anyone else, trust me!”
