LA punk outfit The Linda Lindas go viral with Racist Sexist Boy, sign to Epitaph Records
The quartet have earned praise from the likes of Tom Morello and Thurston Moore.

The Linda Lindas, a teenaged, all-female punk band based in Los Angeles, have gone viral after footage of their anti-racism song, Racist Sexist Boy, made waves online. The quartet have now reportedly signed to Epitaph Records.
The performance, which took place at the Los Angeles Public Library, was shared last week (20 May). Racist Sexist Boy was penned by drummer Mila and bassist Eloise about an alleged experience with racism the former experienced in school.
“A little while before we went into lockdown, a boy in my class came up to me and said that his dad told him to stay away from Chinese people,” Mila said in the video. “After I told him that I was Chinese, he backed away from me. Eloise and I wrote this song based on that experience.”

The performance went viral online, even earning praise Tom Morello, who dubbed the track “song of the day!” on Instagram. Thurston Moore wrote: “Song of 2021 so far…by far! Total inspiration is ageless.”
And according to Variety, the band have now inked a record deal with Epitaph Records.
In the past, The Linda Lindas have opened for Bikini Kill, Best Coast and Money Mark. At 2019’s Save Music In Chinatown 17, Eloise took the stage with LA punk legends The Dils to perform the song Class War for the first time since 1979.
Mila’s father, Carlos De La Garza, is a Grammy-winning producer whose credits span the likes of Paramore and Bad Religion.
The Linda Lindas were formed in 2018; they describe their music as “the spirit of original punk, power pop, and new wave through today’s ears, eyes and minds”, per their Bandcamp.
