The Strokes debuted two new songs, Bad Decisions and At the Door, during their performance at Bernie Sanders’ rally in Durham, New Hampshire on Monday (10 February). The band also announced details of The New Abnormal – the LP the band has been teasing since last year. The full event is above, with the Strokes’ performance starting at 2:20:00.

The band debuted the new song Bad Decisions with a live performance – frontman Julian Casablancas thanking Sanders before noting that the song is “about 2016.” The new song At the Door, however, was previewed with an animated music video. The song is the more mellow of the two, with slower synth chords underpinning the vocals, as opposed to the usual jangly riffing found on Bad Decisions. The video itself evokes 80s sci-fi and fantasy 2D animation – take a look below:

The record was preceded by 2013’s Comedown Machine. At the Bernie Sanders rally, Casablancas addressed the lack of Strokes output (comparatively) across the last decade, telling the crowd: “Yeah, we’ve got a new album coming out soon. 2020, here we come. The 2010s, whatever the fuck they’re called, we took ‘em off. And now we’ve been unfrozen and we’re back.”

The New Abnormal comes out on 10 April 2020. Find out more and preorder here. For more music news, click here.
