Items from Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails and more to be auctioned at The War On Drugs charity event

American rock band The War On Drugs have teamed up with Julien’s Auctions to create an upcoming charity event – featuring items from Dave Grohl, Kim Gordon and Nine Inch Nails.

Taking place next month (6 March), the event was founded by the Grammy Award-winning rock band as a way to raise funds for the Philadelphia school district.

According to the host, Julien’s Auctions, the event will take place online and feature items such as signed guitars, merchandise and artwork – all donated by some of the most iconic names in music.

Alongside two Fender Stratocasters signed by the band, the auction will also feature donations by artists including The Beastie Boys, Questlove, Nine Inch Nails, Kim Gordon and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

Famous names from the art world and sports world are also taking part in the event, and experiences can also be purchased, hosted by some of Philadelphia’s most famous venues. A full list of what’s on offer is available on Julien’s website.

Following the event, all proceeds raised by the auction will benefit The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia, which contributes to strengthening public education and facilitating public-private partnerships.

Earlier this week, another renowned auction house, Bonhams, also confirmed that it would be holding a guitar-related event, this time centring around Fleetwood Mac co-founder, Peter Green.

Set to take place in June, the scheduled auction will see over 150 guitars played and owned by the artist be sold to the highest bidder. These include a Gretsch White Falcon 6137 and a 1999 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster in a Sea Foam Green finish.

Handwritten lyrics for Fleetwood Mac’s song Man of the World are also listed, and expected to sell for upwards of £40,000.
