Musician and comedian Tim Heidecker has released a new single, entitled Oh How We Drift Away, which also features Weyes Blood.

The release is the fourth Heidecker’s forthcoming record Fear Of Death. It follows previous singles Nothing, Property, and the title track, and closes the album. Listen to it below:

Alongside Weyes Blood, the album from The Lemon Twigs‘ Brian and Michael D’Addario, Warpaint‘s Stella Mozgawa and Foxygen‘s Jonathan Rado. The album is Heidecker’s fifth, following his 2019 record What the Broken-Hearted Do…, which was written as a satirical response to internet rumours that his wife was leaving him.

Fear Of Death is less satirical, according to a press release, and “centres around Serious Topics”. “It took a minute for me to stand back and look at what I was talking about to realise,” Heidecker said of the record. “I am now a middle-aged man, and my subconscious is screaming at me: ‘You are getting old, dude! You are not going to live forever! Put down that cheeseburger!’”

Heidecker also praised the talents of Weyes Blood’s Natalie Mering, describing her as “a generational singer/songwriter.” “I think she could harmonize with a doorstop and make it sound dreamy,” he said.
