Warren Haynes, Lukas Nelson to join Robbie Robertson on Last Waltz Tour

The 12-date tour commemorates The Band’s 1976 farewell concert.

Robbie Robertson has revealed the star-studded cast who’ll join him on The Last Waltz, a 12-date tour that celebrates The Band’s 1976 farewell concert. Leading the line-up are The Allman Brothers Band’s Warren Haynes, Promise Of The Real’s Lukas Nelson and Grammy-nominated country artist Jamey Johnson.

For the upcoming trek, Robertson has enlisted the services of concert organiser Blackbird Presents, who helped put together previous Last Waltz tribute shows and the 40th-anniversary tour of the 1976 show.

“It is such an honour that the musical celebration of The Last Waltz and the Band carries on today,” Robertson commented. “Blackbird Presents and this extraordinary lineup of talent makes me proud to be a part of this ongoing and wonderful tradition.” Adding to the star power are the likes of Don Was, John Medeski, Terence Higgins and Mark Mullins.

The Last Waltz, billed as The Band’s “farewell concert”, took place on 25 November,1976 at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom. It was documented on film by Martin Scorsese, and screened in theatres as The Last Waltz in 1978.

The 2019 edition of The Last Waltz tour begins on 5 November at the Capital Theatre in Port Chester, New York, and ends with a final 21 November show at The Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
