Sometime in March, a group of 50 lucky fans were invited to watch Phoebe Bridgers perform two songs from the then-unreleased Punisher at the LA Coliseum. Now, the footage from that show, a part of Versus Creative’s video series 50on50, has been released online.

According to the video’s description, the footage was shot before the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and marked the first time Bridgers performed music from Punisher in a live setting.

Bridgers, accompanied by guitarist Harrison Whitford, violinist Odessa Jorgensen, drummer Marshall Vore and vocalist Charley Hickey, performed both ICU (above) and Halloween (below) from Punisher.

Speaking with The Fader, 50on50 co-producer Nate Auerbach said that the goal of the series was to exhibit artists “who we feel should be playing stadiums”.

“As an L.A. native, Phoebe Bridgers is the kind of artist that we want to see perform a hometown show for a packed Coliseum someday,” he said.

“I could not think of a better artist to launch this new series with us. We were so lucky to have filmed this right before everything locked down. For the people there, it was their first time hearing Phoebe’s new music, and probably their last time seeing a live show for a very long time.”

Punisher, the sophomore album from Bridgers, was released 18 June, 2020 through Dead Oceans. The record received a 9/10 rating on Guitar.com and was described “a triumph”. Read the full review here.
