Weezer have released a new track, entitled Hero. It comes with an accompanying music video, paying tribute to all of the frontline and essential workers currently working against the coronavirus pandemic. Take a look below:

The band wrote about the new song below its video “This one is for the stay at home dreamers, the zoom graduators, the sourdough bakers, and the essential workers.”

The single comes alongside the announcement of the delay of the band’s upcoming record, Van Weezer. It was set to come out on 15 May but has now been indefinitely postponed. An announcement about the new date is expected soon.

Last year, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo shed some light on the contents of the new record to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, saying the album had a significantly heavier approach, being “all just guitars”. “It’s like The Blue Album but with more riffs,” he said. “Metal, hard rock riffs. But it’s still pretty catchy pop rock.”
