Today, October 9, would’ve been John Lennon’s 78th birthday. To celebrate the occasion Yoko Ono Lennon supervised the release of a mammoth Imagine box set that spans six CDs, over 140 tracks and a sprawling 120-page book.

Imagine—The Ultimate Collection is as comprehensive a box set as you’ll see. It features high-definition remixes, outtakes from the album sessions, raw studio mixes, interviews with the legend and more. For die-hard fans, this project is a rare opportunity to experience Lennon’s vocal brilliance on the Imagine album like never before.

“Yoko was very keen that these Ultimate Mixes should achieve three things: to be totally faithful [to] and respectful [of] the originals, be generally sonically clearer overall and increase the clarity of John’s vocals,” Grammy Award-winning engineer Paul Hicks wrote in the accompanying book. “‘It’s about John,’ she said. And she was right. His voice brings the biggest emotional impact to the album.”
