TC Electronic has just unveiled the SpectraDrive, a powerful bass pedal that combines features from TC’s BH800 bass head and SpectraComp compressor. If that wasn’t enough, this stompbox comes with the company’s TubeDrive, which emulates both the front-end and power section of a tube amp to give you crackling overdriven tones.

If you’re wondering why the SpectraDrive sounds familiar, that’s because it features the same preamp as TC’s popular RH and BH series of amp heads. Shaping your sound begins with the gain control, followed by a four-band intelligent EQ. Dial in the right amount of aggression with the “TubeDrive” knob, or work the “SpectraComp” control as needed in order to compress to impress. You can even load up custom TC effects—including those of signature artists—into the pedal via TC’s TonePrint system.

The SpectraDrive makes for an excellent studio companion, too: It can function as a DI, allowing direct connection to mixing consoles or recording gear, and it sports a headphone output and aux-in.
