NAMM 2020: Revv Amplification has debuted the G20, a high-gain lunchbox tube amp that features the amp company’s signature purple channel.

The G20 joins its 2019 counterpart, the D20, in being one of the first amps to feature integrated Two notes Torpedo cab simulation and switchable internal reactive load. Other features of the amp include the ability to switch channels, voices and the Two notes settings via MIDI or an optional preset footswitch.

Putting the G20 in Reactive Load Direct Mode and engaging the ‘Pre/Post’ switch determines the power amp’s presence in the signal chain. Doing so allows users to take advantage of Two notes’ power amp simulations and tweak the voicing of the G20 with virtual tubes. The Reactive Load also auto-engages in the absence of a speaker to preserve amp tube integrity.

Like the D20, the G20 is all about versatility. The amp comes pre-loaded with six fully customisable virtual cabinets and offers up to 128 Torpedo presets via MIDI. A three-band EQ, volume and gain controls, 3 Aggression level and a Wide switch provide an even greater variety of tones when paired with the virtual EQ, cabinet and mic settings.

The G20 features an all-tube signal path comprising twin 12AX7s in the preamp and a pair of 6V6s in the power amp. The amp is rated at 20 watts but can be switched to a 4-watt mode for practice purposes, and can also be easily transported due to its lightweight aluminium ‘lunchbox-style’ enclosure and included carry case.
