Rio Grande Pickups has given its range of Tron pickups a facelift. The BBQ-Tron, Genuine Tex-Tron and Buffalo-Tron now come in a variety of ‘open-face’ finishes that let you play matchy-matchy with your guitar’s pickguard or hardware.

The new finishes include: Brown Tortoise, White Pearl, Crème Pearl, three plain gloss colors and two “Sparkle Flake” colors. If nothing catches your eye, Rio Grande can custom make ’em, too.

These Tron pickups, available in either two- or four-conductor options, are inspired by Filter’Tron pups, which you’d find on many Gretsch models. The BBQ-Tron is a ’50s-harking humbucker that’s best deployed at the bridge position; the Tex-Tron is a wide-open pickup meant for the neck position; and the Buffalo-Tron is the most traditional of the trio, best used at the neck.
