Last Saturday, Slipknot were recently forced to cancel their headlining set at Knotfest Mexico, over a broken barricade that had not been repaired in time.

The barricade problem began after the security barriers were pushed down during Behemoth’s set on Saturday night (30 November). While the festival organisers attempted to repair the barricade, they were not able to fix it in time for Slipknot and preceding band Evanescence’s sets.

In a statement released on Twitter, Slipknot described how “a situation arose onstage after the cancellation that damaged or destroyed gear that would have been necessary to play”. Festival-goers had reportedly stormed the stage and destroyed equipment, including Evanescence drummer Will Hunt’s drum kit. Watch the fan-shot footage below.

Slipknot are currently wrapping up their Latin America tour in support of their 2019 album, We Are Not Your Kind. They will continue touring the record next year in the UK, Europe and Asia.

Slipknot members Corey Taylor and Sid Wilson have also been working on solo records. Taylor’s album will contain “world-changing guitar songs”, he teased last month, while Wilson will release his album on 13 December.
