Hot on the heels of its brand new Type S models is Solar Guitars’ V2.6 Halloween. Bathed in a Blood Red finish, this Type V axe looks just as sinister as it sounds.
Touted by Solar as an instrument that is suited for “both stage and studio work,” the V2.6 is undeniably chock full of features. Its ominous tone is delivered by a pair of Duncan Solar Alnico V humbuckers. These will give you everything from stark cleans to heavy overdrives, with an added emphasis on clarity and sustain. The pups are managed by master “Volume” and “Tone” knobs (with coil-split) and a three-way toggle switch.
The V2.6 also features a swamp ash body with a set-thru maple neck and an ebony fingerboard. The only top inlay—like most of the brand’s other axes—is a Solar logo on the 12th fret. In terms of hardware, there’s a Tune-o-matic bridge with through-body stringing and Grover 18:1 tuners.
