NAMM 2020 Video: Andy Wood runs us through his new Suhr signature guitar
It now comes in both SS and HH pickup configurations.
NAMM 2020: Suhr has updated its Andy Wood Signature model to offer more pickup options. A dual humbucker configuration is now available on top of the original SS layout.
The Suhr Andy Wood Signature guitar can now be loaded with either a set of Suhr Thornbuckers in the HH model or a pair of Suhr Woodshed single-coils in the SS model. Both sets of pickups use alnico V ‘Special’ magnets. Suhr’s proprietary Silent Single Coil System II is also included on the SS models, which maintain the pup’s traditional single coil tone but without the 60-cycle hum.
No other changes have been announced for the Andy Wood Signature model. The guitar features a Modern T-shaped, satin-finished swamp ash body that is torched prior to finishing, allowing the wood’s grain to be felt through the satin finish. Likewise, the maple neck is also satin-finished, and comes with a 16-inch radius fingerboard and 24 jumbo stainless steel frets.
The guitar has several notable features designed to improve playability, such as a modified heel joint for better upper fret access and a modified Tele-style ashtray bridge for less obstruction while playing. Players can also order the Andy Wood Signature guitar with a Wilkinson three-saddle tremolo bridge. Other options include a choice of three finishes: Whiskey Barrel, Iron Red and War Black.
The Suhr Andy Wood Signature lists for $3,750 and will be available at an as-yet-undisclosed date. For more information, click here.
