This year’s Primavera Sound festival has been pushed to August due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival, which was set to take place in Barcelona from 3-7 June will now be held over 26-30 August 2020.

The festival – which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year – boasts a massive line-up featuring the likes of Beck, The Strokes, Iggy Pop, Bauhaus, as well as the much-anticipated Pavement reunion.

The organisers of the festival have issued a statement on its website: “We are forced to postpone the upcoming edition of Primavera Sound Barcelona for reasons of force majeure known to us all. Our absolute priority has always been to guarantee the safety of our audience, artists and all the people involved in the festival.

“We feel obliged and responsible to contribute insofar as we can to the survival of the live music scene, whose role will be key to the return to normality after this absolutely unprecedented situation that has never been faced before by the cultural sector and all its agents”.

According to the organisers, more information regarding Primavera’s sister festival, NOS Primavera Sound in Porto, Portugal will also be announced soon.

The COVID-19 outbreak has forced many other festivals like – Download, Glastonbury and All Points East – to either postpone or cancel.
