Guitar wizard Tosin Abasi’s complete pedalboard has been revealed in a new video by Vertex Effects.
In the video, Vertex Effects’ head honcho Mason ‘The Rig Doctor’ Margella gives Abasi some much-needed help with his touring pedalboard for this year. “The ’board was kind of thrown together in rehearsals with whatever cables I had,” Abasi admits. “It was noisy; certain buttons on the Octa Switch had to be taped down because they were damaged. It wasn’t built to spec for professional use.”
For Abasi’s new pedalboard, Margella worked on every single element of the setup, right down to the height of the pedal risers, to put together a pedalboard that could withstand the rigours of touring.
Another big consideration for Margella was that this resilience could not come at the expense of noise and signal loss – a detriment to any touring musician. Margella’s first move was to secure a source of clean power for the pedalboard. For this, The Rig Doctor turned to the 1 Spot CS12. Other integral parts of Abasi’s pedalboard include the Mesa Boogie High-Wire Buffer and the Boss ES-8 Effects Switcher, Vertex Effects Dynamic Drive and Steel String. His staple distortion pedals – the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe and the Abasi Pathos – remain untouched.
The end result was a pedalboard that any gear geek would swoon over and a very satisfied guitarist. “I’m really stoked; it actually exceeded my expectations,” Abasi said. “The amount of sounds I’m going to be able to get out of this ’board… It’s just going to be an inspiration station.”
