NoTone Amplification SE50

NoTone Amplification’s new SE50 series of tube amps is everything you’d ask for in premium boutique units. The models are vintage-voiced, point-to-point hand-wired, and extremely musical—and you can’t argue with their clean, understated good looks.

There are three ‘main’ models: the SE50, SE50B and SE50KH.

The SE50 is an American-voiced amp, powered by KT88 tubes, that’s built for jazz, blues and country; it’s available as a head, 1×12 combo and 2×12 combo. The EL84-driven SE50B, on the other hand, is British-voiced, offering early break-up and enough midrange to cut through the mix. It’s also available in the same formats as the SE50. And the SE50KH, which only comes as a head, uses KT66 to yield a Plexi-leaning overdrive tone.

All combos deploy Ted Weber speakers, and all models come with a bevy of controls—from “Fat” to “Resonance”—depending on the amp’s configuration. And as NoTone proudly declares, everything is built in the US with “old-school methods.”
