We previously looked at the funky Strat-Tele Hybrid, but this month’s subject – the Troublemaker Tele – sees Fender look outside its own catalogue for inspiration.
The Troublemaker Tele’s mahogany body and neck, bound maple top, Adjusto-matic bridge, stop tailpiece, and nitrocellulose finish are all mischievous nods towards Kalamazoo’s golden-era design philosophy.
But the guitar’s bolt-on construction and body outline mean that it doesn’t go all the way there, and when you plug in, that’s very much the story, too. The Shawbucker pickups under those Wide Range-style covers deliver a pleasing mixture of humbucker grind and Tele twang, with plenty of clarity.
With street prices around the £1,600 mark, the guitar is available in Ice Tea Burst (seen here) or stunning Ice Blue Metallic, but like all Parallel Universe models, the Troublemaker Tele will only be around for a short time, so snap one up while you can! Visit fender.com for more information on the range.
