Vox AC30S1

Fans of the revered Vox AC30 can now enjoy the experience on the brand’s simpler, stripped-down rendition of the amp: the AC30S1.

Unveiled at Summer NAMM 2018, the amp is a 1×12-inch combo with a single channel that’s modeled after the beloved Top Boost circuit of the original AC30, which is known for its chimey, bright tones.

Also known as the AC30 OneTwelve, the amp drops the multiple inputs, tremolo circuit and tone cut dials from the AC30, but retains the onboard digital spring reverb. “Gain,” “Volume,” “Treble” and “Bass” chicken head knobs provide the tone-sculpting muscle.

The AC30S1 is powered by two 12AX7s in the preamp section and four EL84s in the power amp. It has a Celestion speaker that’s been specifically voiced for the amp, and has an effects loop for pedal fanatics, too. And at 54 pounds, the AC30S1 is about 20 pounds lighter than a regular AC30.

The Vox AC30S1 retails for about $800. For more info, check out voxamps.com.
